RETOUR AUX ACTUALITÉS

Geneva Call’s 2012 annual report is online

The report provides an update on some of Geneva Call’s on-going engagement with armed non-State actors (ANSAs) towards their compliance with international norms.

  • In 2012, Geneva Call launched its Deed of Commitment prohibiting sexual violence and gender discrimination. By the end of 2012, five ANSAs had signed the Deed.
  • The Deed of Commitment protecting children in armed conflict was signed by seven ANSAs, including one ANSA listed by the United Nations as a grave violator of the Rights of the Child.
  • The Deed of Commitment banning AP mines now stands at 42 ANSA signatures, following successful engagement with Justice and Equality Movement in Sudan leading to the group’s signature in early 2012.
  • In the Philippines, Geneva Call’s ongoing engagement with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) has been noted – by the Government – as a contributory factor in the signing of the Framework Agreement, a significant step in the peace process.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank all those whose confidence and support make Geneva Call’s mission a reality.
