Panel discussion with the Lebanese authorities on child protection

Last 26 June in Beirut, Geneva Call and the Lebanese – Palestinian Dialogue Committee (LPDC) – a government body that deals with issues relating to the Palestinian refugees residing on Lebanese territory – organized a panel discussion on child protection at the Government Palace, the Grand Serail.

The objective of the discussion was to follow up on the implementation of the “Declaration of the Palestine Liberation Organization factions and the Palestinian National Coalition Forces in Lebanon about the protection of children from the effects of armed conflict and violence” that was adopted in December 2013.Some 25 representatives from relevant international and local organizations attended the event, chaired by Dr. Hassan Mneymneh, former Minister of Education. In collaboration with local NGOs and with the support of LPDC, Geneva Call will reinforce the dissemination of the principles included in the Declaration within the Palestinian camps, in particular the prohibition of the use of children in all forms of armed action.
